USATF Club Nationals

We have recently been talking about conversion standards in order to justify an A and B team at Club Nationals. Hopefully throughout the fall we will continue to update the list online as well as current performances of members.

1st Annual New Year's Eve 10 Miler

all runners posing before the Orb 10-miler (click to enlarge)

Seventeen runners were in attendance at the Orb's 1st Annual New Year's Eve 10 Miler including several members of Matt Reneker's St. Thomas Aquinas team and a handful of Massillon Perry runners. Perry alumni Dustin Ford, Ty Griffin and the Orb's Joe Beall represented Mount Union while Jamie Martin, the Orb's Dan Graber (also a former Perry runner) and Dan Simpson repped Heidelberg.

Initially the plan was to run a 10-mile out and back style race at the Craig Pittman Park Trailhead but flurries from the night before left the trail snow-covered and icey. As a precaution Reneker gave everyone the option of running a hilly road loop nearby as an alternative route for the race. He warned that it would be very challenging (which was no lie) and everyone (except initially Sam Stern, haha) willingly accepted.

Route with elevation charts may be found here.

Complete results, more info and picture(s) soon to come:

The First Annual New Year's Eve ORB 10 Miler

This New Year's Eve, many ORB members will gather at the towpath in Canton, OH to race a 10 miler. The race will also be attended by local runners such as Mount Union standouts Dustin Ford and Ty Griffin and some of Matt Reneker's St. Thomas Aquinas high school boys.

The race will be run in teams that are selected pick-up style (think backyard football). The fastest cumulative time wins.

My predictions for ORB finishers:
1.) Dan Simpson
2.) Dave Adams
3.) Ryan Hochstetler
4.) Dan Graber
5.) Matt Reneker
6.) Alex Stern
7.) Sam Stern
8.) Joey Beall

It should be a competitive race with the MUC guys and a couple St. Thomas studs thrown in.
